Aggie Out of Water

Howdy!

I have now been here in Orlando for two months! Time is flying by, I am staying very busy! I work somewhere between 30-40 hours per week at Pop Century. I typically work about an 8 hour shift in the evenings. My family came to visit last week, which was a nice break from my normal routine here. I assist guest from all over the world, China, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Argentina and more. I also, of course, assist guests from all over the nation. It does not matter where the guests is from, frequently, my name tag that contains my name and Texas A&M University, makes its way into the conversation. Often I get, "Oh! You are an Aggie?" or "Do you know Johnny Football?" both are questions that i'll happily answer. However, every once in awhile I see that little ring made of gold catch my eye on a guests. I had a guest that had a simple question for me the other day, I noticed the ring, but I could tell he was in a hurry to get back to his family. Right before leaving my desk, he extended his hand to me, told me his name and that he was class of '79. He then proceeded to ask me about my time here, how I was adjusting, and about my major. It was a simple thing, but really truly made me appreciate the Aggie Family. I will be returning back to College Station briefly in April to receive my Aggie Ring and I could not be more excited!

The adjustment of living here in Orlando has been rocky. It is definitely not College Station, nor does it have many, or any similarities. I do however, really love working for Disney. The people I work with are great, hard workers. I have gotten the opportunity to make connections with people from all areas of the company as well as learn from how the company itself functions. People from all over the world know Disney, and they expect certain things from Disney. I have adapted, and improved, the way I interact and assist guests so that they meet and exceed the Disney expectations. I recently have decided that I want to stay with the Walt Disney Company after my program here ends in May. I am currently looking into applying to be a Campus Representative or becoming a seasonal employee for Disney.

Disney's Flower and Garden Festival started yesterday. I have not gotten the chance to enjoy the festival yet, because I have been working. However, I have three days off coming up and I am excited to see what the horticulture department of Disney have done for their guests to enjoy this year! I will make sure to take many pictures so I can blog about it later on!

I am not sure If I have really covered the perks of this internship! By doing the Disney College Program, I receive free entry to all Disney Parks. This includes, Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, as well as Disney's two water parks. I also get a discount on food and merchandise, as well as Disney Cruises, Resorts and Hotels. Here are a few highlights of me taking advantage of these perks!

Have a Magical Day!
